Our UK line-up!

Summertime is here again! And not only that, but it’s Plastic Free July. Plastic Free July started in 2011, and from small beginnings has become a global movement (see, individuals CAN make a difference). We are making the most of our summer by getting out on the road, and visiting festivals and fairs where you can come and find out more about Kalleco and how to live a more plastic free life, and also buy our products!

We’ve been looking forward to this summer for ages, not only because it means I don’t have work for a long time (teacher brag), but also because it means we have a bit more freedom to get around the UK and see some new places. As regular readers will know, Kat and I are heading off to Australia at the end of August (don’t worry, Kat will still be running Kalleco from a distance), but wherever we go, the UK will always be home so we are incredibly keen to spread the word about how to reduce your single use plastic waste here before we go!

We currently have four festivals booked in, but keep an eye on our Instagram in case others come up. We will be in Bradford on the 7th of July, London on the 13th, Bridlington on the 11th of August, and finally Leeds on the 18th. There’s a variety of types of festival; vegan, wellbeing and consciousness, as well as crossover between them, so if you are in the area, or if you like the look, then head on down, there will be plenty to see there.

Mind Body Soul Festival - July 7th 2019, 10:00 - 17:30

You can check out the event on Facebook here.

20th Low Moor Bradford South Scout Hut, 73 Netherland Avenue, Low Moor, Bradford, BD6 1EH.

The entrance fee for this wellbeing and psychic festival in Bradford is only £2, and tickets are available either on the door or via the organisers Trancefixt website. Mind Body Soul Festival is raising money for the animal charity, Blue Cross.

As well as us there will be around 30 other stalls, as well as food and drink available throughout the day. The stalls will include holistic treatments, healing, psychic and spiritual readings, and holistic and beauty products. There will also be a series of presentations throughout the day on a huge variety of topics. From Shamanic drumming in the morning, through Reiki and healing, life and spiritual coaching, yoga, crystals, spell casting and witchcraft, through to past lives and karma. There will also be other demonstrations throughout the day.

It’s the first festival of its kind to be organised so if you are in Yorkshire, come on down and experience it! It should be a really exciting day. Kat is heading to this one with her mum, so stop by and say hi if you are there!

11:11 Universal Consciousness Festival - July 13th 2019, 15:00 - 20:30

You can check out the event on Facebook here

Harry Caddick Community Centre, 63 Lilford Road, Camberwell, London, SE5 9HN.

This consciousness festival in south-east London is absolutely packed full of performances, things to do, and stalls. Tickets are available via the Facebook link above and are priced at £22.22.

The event is non-profit, and all proceeds will go towards feeding the homeless in London, which is also run by the same organisation and you can check out the Facebook page here. The stall vendors will be selling vegan food and products, as well as holistic products and services.

In the main hall there will be performances throughout the day with a huge variety of music, dance performances, spoken word, and chanting from the start of the day until the end. Upstairs there will be workshops on meditation, yogic breathing, self-love, wellness and star lineage. For full details of the day check out the link above. With the slogan, “Be the new earth, be the light, be the love, be the change you want to see in the world”, there is a really positive message about being mindful and conscious about the barriers you can create for yourself and how you can break them down.

Kat and I are both really excited to attend this festival and experience some different perspectives.

Bridlington Vegan Festival - August 11th 2019, 10:30 - 16:30

Check out the website here.

The Spa, South Marine Drive, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, YO15 3JH.

Tickets for Bridlington Vegan Festival are £3 in advance, or £5 on the door. They are available via the link on the website to the venue box office, or from Planetwise vegan shop in Bridlington. There aim is to promote veganism as a compassionate, healthy and environmentally friendly way of life.

This is the second annual vegan festival in Bridlington, and last year’s event had over 800 visitors. The stores will be offering vegan, ethical and eco friendly products, including clothes, food, toiletries, cosmetics, household products, jewellery and local crafts.

There will also be speakers about veganism and related issues, as well as yoga, tai chi and pilates sessions for if you are feeling energetic, and meditation and mantra sessions to help clear your mind.

Again, Kat will be heading to this with her mum, although I might also be popping along depending on how the walking holiday I have planned around this time goes!

V(egan) Festival - August 19th July, 17:00 - 22:00

You can check out the event on Facebook here.

118 Richardshaw Lane, Leeds, LS28 6BN

Taking place in Pudsey, Leeds, this mini vegan festival promises vegan street food, locally produced drinks, and live music and entertainment from local artists. There is no ticket price for the festival but instead you can make a donation on the door, which will go to either The Samaritans, or Headway Brain Injuries Trust.

Hosted by the Alternatively Vegan Cafe, this promises to be a brilliant, family friendly evening. Dishes such as vegan pizza, buddha bowls, burgers and more are available, and judging from the reviews of the cafe should be amazing! Opening a vegan cafe has been a lifelong dream of owner Angi Haist, and this festival promises to build on that and show more and more people that food can be both delicious and plant based!

Kat will be at this one again, this time with her lovely sister Bekah. Again, I might try and come along too, but it depends if there is space for me in the car alongside Bekah’s gorgeous dogs!
