A zero waste holiday?

They say you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Having spent the last eight years in London and Bangkok coming back to spend time with our families in Yorkshire has made me realise just how much I’ve missed spending time in the countryside.

One of the things that we have noticed as we’ve become more and more interested in sustainable living, is that traditional media isn’t great for giving you tips and advice on how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Ditch the Plastic Straw

Ditch the Plastic Straw
Worries about plastic pollution led to us launching our range of eco-friendly drinking straws. Reading about the damage being done to wildlife, seeing first-hand the damage that was being done to coastlines and beaches, and then researching about the extent of the plastic pollution inspired us to make a simple change to start to improve our environmental impact.

Zero waste and Eco stores

Zero waste and Eco stores

So, what is a zero waste store?

The goal of a zero waste store is that no rubbish is sent to either landfills or to be burnt. They encourage people to reuse their own containers, and sometimes have reusable containers available that you can take away and then refill when you return. In real terms this means that they usually sell loose vegetables, dry products (like pasta, beans, lentils and nuts) in bins or buckets which you can then scoop up into your container, and even vats with drinks or washing detergent in.
